Tim Bassett
Co-Founder & Managing Partner
Leadership
With a focus on implementing long-term investment strategies through acquisitions and development opportunities, Tim is committed to building Birdsong’s platform and portfolio to achieve sustainable growth while delivering consistent and reliable returns for investors. In his 15 years in real estate, Tim has been involved in over $2.2 billion in transactions across all real estate asset classes.
Before forming Birdsong, Tim was a Partner at WPT Capital Advisors, where he managed all East Region investment activity, directly sourcing over $885 million in acquisitions and development projects. Prior to WPT, he led acquisitions and development at Indus Realty Trust (formerly Griffin Industrial Realty) in New York City. He was responsible for doubling the size of the company’s portfolio and leading it into several new markets in the Southeast. In his three years at Indus, Tim closed on over $120 million in investments, through both acquisition and development.
Tim began his investment career as a member of the Transactions team at PGIM Real Estate, where he underwrote equity investment opportunities in industrial, retail, multifamily, and office assets for PGIM’s various fund strategies. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and an M.B.A. from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee. Based in Brentwood, TN, Tim and his wife, Jaclyn, enjoy spending much of their free time at the extracurricular activities of their three children.
Nick W. Jones
Co-Founder & Partner
Nick brings a wealth of experience in industrial real estate operations and investment to Birdsong, where he will lead the Charlotte market as well as collaborating on overall strategy and capital deployment. Before co-founding Birdsong, Nick served as Chief Operating Officer at Dogwood Industrial Properties, a TPG Real Estate platform focused on acquiring and managing quality, infill, multi-tenant industrial assets in strategic, high-growth metropolitan markets across the United States. At Dogwood, Nick oversaw all asset-level operations, including leasing, property management, and capital expenditures. As the firm’s first hire in 2019, he played a pivotal role in scaling the platform to over 15 million square feet across 15 markets and growing the team to 12 real estate professionals.
Prior to Dogwood, Nick was Vice President of Asset Management at EastGroup Properties, where he managed a diverse set of responsibilities spanning asset management, acquisitions, and development throughout the Southeast. Nick holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from Rollins College. Based in Charlotte, NC, he and his wife Frances enjoy traveling, outdoor adventures, and cheering on the Tar Heels.
Ben Ozburn
Co-Founder & Partner
Over the last decade, Ben has successfully launched and grown multiple companies. With extensive experience in real estate, logistics, and entrepreneurship, Ben focuses on portfolio leasing and asset management at Birdsong. He began his commercial real estate career with Foundry Commercial and Colliers International, where he specialized in advising clients like Dyke Industries, Cimetra, Velocity International, and Ole Mexican Foods on their leasing, acquisition, and development needs. During his brokerage tenure, Ben facilitated the leasing of several hundred thousand square feet across the Southeast and was involved in various industrial asset sales and development projects nationwide.
Before joining Birdsong, Ben was a founding partner of Nashville Box, a corrugated packaging company in Nashville. He played a key role in growing the company to 20 full-time employees before its acquisition by Welch Packaging in January 2023. Additionally, Ben is a partner at Big Rig Parking, a development firm focused on creating parking solutions for the trucking industry, where he concentrates on site selection and property development. Outside of work, Ben enjoys hunting, traveling with his wife, and spending time with their three dogs. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he is also a devoted Vols fan.
